Doing business with CGM is a simple four step process:
Step 1: Contact CGM and we will help you obtain the appropriate insurance license for your resident state and any additional states in which you wish to do business. (Note: you may already hold the appropriate license.)
Step 2: Sign your P&C Agent Contract with CGM. (Note: your contract must be approved by your branch manager.)
Step 3: Submit and receive approval of CGM business as an Outside Business Activity with Centaurus.
Step 4: Contact CGM to run quotes and start writing business!
Commissions are received from the insurance carriers by CGM and paid weekly. Individual agents are contracted within a branch (similar to Centaurus Financial’s branch structure). Commission rates for each agent are determined by the branch manager in agreement with the agent. If you are a branch manager, you can contact CGM to obtain your branch commission rate, if you are an individual agent, you can contact your branch manager for the agent commission rate.
Typically, CGM can get a quote turned around in 2-4 business days. Certain factors can increase turnaround time. For more information, please see “Why do some quotes take longer than others?”
Quotes are completed on a first come, first serve basis. However, we do understand that some risks require immediate attention. If your client is purchasing a new home, being non-renewed or cancelled, or if you are meeting with the client today, please ensure that you have all the necessary information and call us to have the quote expedited.
CGM provides an extensive, experienced approach to Property and Casualty Insurance. We compare the rates of up to 12 carriers to find the best coverage for the best value. While we have access to many carriers, some carriers like Geico, Allstate and State Farm are captive, meaning their agents can only sell their insurance. This means that, although they may be able to turn a quote around in a few hours, they do not have the ability to ensure that the client is getting the best coverage or price available. Similarly, our experienced agents are equipped to ensure that your clients’ assets are protected fully. If a client chooses to get a quote online elsewhere, they could unknowingly be exposing themselves to countless insurance risks.
Some risks are more complicated than others and therefore need additional information or underwriting review. Furthermore, some states have unique risks (such as California wildfires), which makes finding coverage more challenging. CGM will continue to shop the market until we’ve beaten your client’s current premium or we’ve exhausted our options.
Additionally, turnaround times are increased if we are not provided with sufficient data to do the quote. For more information, please see “What information do my clients need to provide for a quote?”
Auto Quotes: Please provide names, addresses, driver’s license numbers, and DOBs for each driver in the household on our One-Page Auto Request Form. We will also need a full, current declaration page that lists the VINs, coverages, effective dates and premium. In order to provide a seamless quote experience, please also discuss any accidents, claims, speeding tickets, or moving violations (i.e., DUIs or running a stop sign). These details can be written in the “Notes/Comments” section of the One-Page Request Form
Home Quotes: Please provide names, DOBs and addresses for all homeowners along with the bottom portion of our One-Page Request Form. We will also need a full, current declaration page that lists coverages, effective dates and premium. Maximize your client’s discounts by getting their roof’s age, the year they completed any home updates, information on theft/fire prevention (smoke detectors, burglar alarms), pool details (in/above ground), and basement type.
Yes, CGM has implemented a new website feature where clients can get a quote. We do require current declarations pages to be submitted to submit@cgminsurance.com in order to receive a completed quote.
Many factors are considered when carriers provide quotes. Zip code, the client’s age, accident/violation/claims history, coverage levels, etc. CGM will continue to exhaust each competitive carrier until we can beat the price. If we are unable to, we will inform you and/or your client of the reasons affecting the quote price. We often help clients who are significantly under-insured. If this is the case, we will, of course raise their coverages, which could increase the premium.
CGM can be as involved as you’d like us to be. We can exclusively work through you or your assistant to reach your client, or with your permission, we can reach out to the client directly.
No. Our commissions team will be able to match any commissions to you as long as we’ve received at least one order form per client.
All of our carriers have A ratings from AMBest, and we continue to add more each week. Some of our top carriers include Safeco (a Liberty Mutual Company), Travelers, Nationwide, Progressive, Foremost, National General, Hanover, and Universal Property.
